MSIT Track & Field City Champs

By Abdulrahman Ashraf

The started the season off the right way with a first place team finish at the Jim Mackay Games, and this Saturday, February 27, the Indoor PSAL City Championships will be held at The Armory in Manhattan. Our team will be sending fifteen athletes to compete at this years City Championships. Khadim Ndoye is ranked first in Triple and Long Jump and tied for second in High Jump behind teammate James Mirfield. In Pole Vault Charles Griffen is also ranked first overall. In the Mile Oadhan Lynch and Tommaso Giarrusso are not ranked first, but they are seeded fourth and sixth respectively, only being one second apart with Lynch running 4:37.14 and Giarrusso running a 4:38.47.

However, in order to win a meet like City Champs it takes more than just the top guys on any team to win. From our team we have Yuhao Spollen who recently qualified in High Jump and is in contention of a medal. James Mirfield is also ranked fourth in Triple Jump as well as Reese Ganaway  who qualified at Borough Championships. In Pole Vault the team has the most athletes qualified with Emmet Bergson and Christian Weiler supporting Griffen. I am ranked eighth in Weight Throw with a throw of 39 feet 10 inches. The team also has two 4×800 meter relays in contention to score.
