Dyson Study Reveals Indians Spend 35 Minutes Daily on Wet Floor Cleaning

A recent Dyson Global Dust Study 2025 has revealed that Indians spend an average of 35 minutes per day wet cleaning their floors, reflecting a deep-rooted cultural preference for immaculate living spaces. The report places India among the top nations in terms of time invested in floor cleaning, far surpassing the global average.

Wet Cleaning Preferred Over Vacuuming

The study shows that wet mopping remains the most favored cleaning method in Indian households, especially in urban centers. While dry vacuuming is gaining popularity due to time-saving devices, traditional wet cleaning methods still dominate, driven by a perception of better hygiene and visible cleanliness.

Allergies and Dust: Key Concerns for Indian Households

Dust accumulation and allergies are significant motivators behind regular cleaning. Dyson’s study states that 81% of Indian respondents believe dust can trigger allergies and breathing problems, making wet cleaning a health-conscious practice, not just a routine chore.

Tech Adoption on the Rise, Yet Manual Cleaning Prevails

Despite the increasing availability of automated floor cleaners and vacuum-mop combos, the study finds that manual mopping remains the norm in many Indian homes. The resistance to switching stems from a belief that “hands-on” cleaning yields better results, though younger generations are more open to technology-driven alternatives.

Global Insights and India’s Leading Role

Globally, people spend about 24 minutes a day on floor cleaning, placing India significantly above average. Dyson’s research covered over 30 countries and emphasized that India’s commitment to cleanliness is among the strongest, influenced by both cultural practices and growing awareness of hygiene-related health issues.

Final Thoughts: A Call for Smarter Cleaning

As the study highlights, there is growing interest in innovative cleaning solutions that blend hygiene with convenience. With Indians spending nearly four hours per week on wet cleaning, Dyson and other companies see an opportunity to deliver smarter tools that reduce effort without compromising results.
