Intel’s Strategy Chief Steps Down Amid Ongoing Restructuring

Leadership Change at a Pivotal Moment
Intel Corporation confirmed that its Chief Strategy Officer, Safroadu Yeboah-Amankwah, will depart the company by the end of June. The executive exit comes during a transformative phase for Intel, as it attempts to reclaim leadership in semiconductor innovation and manufacturing. Yeboah-Amankwah, who joined Intel in 2020 from McKinsey & Company, played a key role in defining Intel’s long-term growth initiatives, including expansion into foundry services and AI infrastructure.

Strategic Shake-Up in the Midst of a Turnaround Plan

Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger has been driving a multi-year turnaround strategy since taking over in 2021, aiming to bring Intel back to technological parity with rivals like AMD and Taiwan's TSMC. The Chief Strategy Officer's departure adds to a series of high-profile executive changes at Intel in recent years, reflecting both the pressure and pace of the company’s transformation.

Focus on Foundry, AI, and Geopolitical Chip Race

Under Yeboah-Amankwah’s strategic leadership, Intel intensified efforts to grow its Intel Foundry business and compete for government-backed chip manufacturing projects across the U.S. and Europe. He was also instrumental in aligning Intel’s product roadmap with emerging trends in artificial intelligence and high-performance computing. His exit is not expected to halt these initiatives, though analysts say it may lead to internal reassignments.

No Immediate Successor Announced

Intel has not yet announced a replacement for Yeboah-Amankwah. In the interim, strategic oversight is expected to be redistributed among existing executives. The company emphasized that its strategic objectives remain unchanged. However, the shift comes as Intel prepares for the launch of key products and ramps up construction of new fabrication facilities in Arizona and Germany.

Market Watchers Eye Strategic Continuity

While investor reaction has been muted so far, industry analysts say Intel’s leadership transitions will be closely watched for indications of whether Gelsinger's long-term strategy is gaining traction. Intel shares have been volatile in 2025, as the company juggles massive capital expenditures with fierce market competition. The coming months will be critical as Intel attempts to execute on its promises of regaining manufacturing and design leadership.
