In a landmark collaboration, Reliance Intelligence, a digital innovation arm of Reliance Industries, has partnered with Google to bring the Gemini AI platform to Jio users across India. The partnership aims to enhance digital accessibility and empower millions of users with cutting-edge AI capabilities. Under the agreement, Jio customers will receive free access to Gemini AI for 18 months, making it one of the most extensive AI rollouts in India’s telecom history.
Gemini AI Comes to Jio Devices and Platforms
The Gemini AI suite will be natively integrated into Jio’s ecosystem, including the MyJio app, JioChat, and JioCloud services. This move will allow users to interact with the AI assistant for various purposes—ranging from real-time translations, content creation, productivity tools, education, and entertainment recommendations. Reliance aims to make advanced AI accessible to both urban and rural users through this collaboration.
Empowering India’s AI Future
Reliance officials stated that this partnership aligns with the company’s broader mission to democratize artificial intelligence and bring global technology innovations to India’s growing digital economy. The integration is expected to enhance user engagement across Jio’s platforms while boosting Reliance’s footprint in AI-driven services.
Google India’s spokesperson emphasized that Gemini’s multimodal capabilities—text, image, and voice understanding—will significantly benefit India’s diverse linguistic base.
Free Access and Availability
Starting December 2025, eligible Jio users will be able to activate their free Gemini AI subscription directly through the MyJio app. The offer includes both Gemini Basic and Gemini Advanced tiers, free for the first 18 months, after which users may choose to upgrade to paid plans. Jio users with active broadband and prepaid plans above ₹399 are expected to be automatically eligible.
Strengthening Google–Reliance Ties
This collaboration marks another major milestone in the Google–Reliance partnership, which began in 2020 when Google invested $4.5 billion in Jio Platforms. The introduction of Gemini AI to Jio’s digital ecosystem further strengthens their alliance, positioning India at the forefront of AI-driven telecom innovation.
Industry Impact and Future Outlook
Analysts believe this move could reshape India’s AI adoption curve, offering millions of users access to premium AI tools at no cost. With Reliance’s expansive network and Google’s AI infrastructure, this partnership could serve as a blueprint for global tech-telecom collaborations aimed at accelerating digital transformation in emerging markets.
