Jaipur: Governor Shri Haribhai Bagde has called for the promotion of natural farming under agricultural horticulture. He emphasized the need for agricultural universities to create an environment conducive to chemical-free farming across the country. Highlighting the adverse effects of excessive chemical fertilizer use, he stated that it not only leads to increased diseases but also depletes the fertility of the soil. He stressed the importance of initiatives to preserve horticultural crop farming and urged nationwide efforts to conserve water and enhance its availability.
Governor Bagde was addressing the 16th National Symposium on "Preservation of Horticultural Crops" organized by the All India Agricultural Universities Vice-Chancellors Association. He emphasized the need for efforts at all levels to grow crops and fruits that require less water and to protect them from natural calamities. He also called for essential steps to ensure the production of solar energy in all agricultural universities.
Referring to the recommendations of the agricultural reforms committee presented by renowned agricultural scientist Swaminathan in 2008, the Governor highlighted the Central Government's continuous efforts to make agriculture profitable. He stressed the integration of ancient agricultural knowledge with modern farming techniques to make farming more beneficial.
On this occasion, Padma Shri Dr. B.S. Dhillon, President of the All India Agricultural Universities Association, and Vice-Chancellor of the Horticultural University, Uttarakhand, Prof. Parvinder Kaushal, and Executive Secretary of the Association Prof. Dinesh Kumar also shared their views. Dr. N.K. Gupta expressed gratitude to all attendees.
