London-based tech startup Nothing is gearing up to make waves once again in the budget tech segment. Under its sub-brand CMF by Nothing, the company has officially confirmed the launch of two new devices—CMF Phone 2 Pro and CMF Buds 2—scheduled for unveiling on April 28, 2025.
The announcement has sparked interest across the tech community, especially among fans of Nothing's signature minimal design and emphasis on affordability without compromising on innovation.
CMF Phone 2 Pro: A Step Closer to Premium?
The CMF Phone 2 Pro is expected to be the flagship offering under the CMF lineup, likely designed to bridge the gap between entry-level and mid-range segments. While Nothing has remained tight-lipped on full specifications, leaks and teasers suggest the phone could feature a 6.7-inch AMOLED display, possibly with a 120Hz refresh rate, and a MediaTek Dimensity 8000-series chipset.
In terms of design, the company is expected to stick with the bold, industrial aesthetic that has become its hallmark—potentially with colorful accents, a clean rear panel, and hints of modularity. A dual-camera setup, improved battery life, and Nothing OS based on Android 14 are also among the anticipated features.
Analysts believe the CMF Phone 2 Pro could aim to undercut premium mid-range rivals with aggressive pricing while offering signature Nothing design language and ecosystem integration.
CMF Buds 2: Audio with a Punch
Alongside the smartphone, CMF Buds 2 will also be launched at the same event. These budget wireless earbuds are expected to succeed the popular first-generation CMF Buds, which earned praise for delivering solid audio performance at a wallet-friendly price.
The new generation could bring upgrades such as active noise cancellation (ANC), improved battery life, and possibly multi-device pairing—features that are increasingly becoming standard even in entry-level earbuds. With Nothing’s focus on design, the CMF Buds 2 are likely to sport vibrant color options and a uniquely styled charging case.
A Growing Sub-Brand
CMF, which stands for Color, Material, and Finish, was launched by Nothing in 2023 as an affordable alternative to its more premium devices. The sub-brand has since gained momentum in markets like India and Southeast Asia, where price-sensitive consumers value a balance of style and functionality.
The upcoming launch is viewed as a strategic move by Nothing to further consolidate its presence in the budget and mid-tier markets, especially with growing competition from brands like Xiaomi, Realme, and Infinix.
Launch Event Details
The global unveiling of CMF Phone 2 Pro and CMF Buds 2 is slated for April 28, with the event expected to be streamed online. More details, including pricing and availability, are expected to be disclosed during the presentation.
