Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac) reached an all-time high in passenger volume last year, signaling a full recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and continued regional growth.
According to the Port of Seattle, Sea-Tac saw 52.6 million passengers in 2024, surpassing its previous record of 51.8 million in 2019 by 2%. The airport had been on a rapid growth trajectory before the pandemic, recording nine consecutive years of record passenger volumes through 2019.
Officials anticipate this trend to continue, with a projected 2% increase in 2025, bringing total passenger numbers to 53.5 million.
Sea-Tac was the fastest-growing airport in the country for five years leading up to 2020, and its resurgence underscores the increasing number of travelers visiting and residing in the Pacific Northwest.
Port of Seattle Senior Media Relations Manager Perry Cooper described the rising passenger numbers as a reflection of the region’s economic and population growth.
With demand for air travel rising, Sea-Tac’s record-breaking year highlights Seattle’s expanding role as a major travel hub on the West Coast.
