This course bridges this gap by equipping clinical professionals with the skills and tools to understand, critique, and apply AI in clinical settings in a way that improves patient care and operational efficiency.

International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIIT- H) has initiated an online course for medical professionals. The integration of AI in healthcare forms a new route through which many medical professionals treat, diagnose, and manage their patients. Though many clinicians in the medical sphere lack the acumen and practical skills to drive these technologies correctly, this is the course by which clinical professions will be knowledgeable and equipped, thus enhancing how they understand AI, evaluate and apply it effectively in clinical care and operational ways. The course is to sensitize, familiarize, and appreciate the applications of AI tools and technologies in healthcare and to foster awareness of ethical and governance issues related to AI in medicine.

This course structure suits faculty, medical professionals (MD, MS, MCh, DM, MDS), and postgraduate medical students (MBBS, BDS). The course is open to applicants who possess a basic knowledge of healthcare processes and clinical practice. They must also be interested in knowing how modern technology can impact healthcare. Upon completion, students will become informed, aware, and responsible end-users of AI. Students will be able to evaluate, test, and validate AI applications. The course will be delivered through pre-recorded lectures (~1 hour of content delivered as 4 videos, each of 15 minutes duration) released every week, allowing participants to learn at their convenience.

It will include weekly online contact sessions (1 hour duration) comprising a summary of lecture material, tutorials on the material covered in video lectures, Q&A, and live demonstrations of case studies. The contact sessions will include demonstrations of simple AI applications relevant to health care. Total study time per week: 3 hours. Short quizzes and assignments will be included within the course videos, which participants must finish before the contact sessions. The assessment of learning outcomes is measured by conducting a post-course assessment.

The structure of the course consists of four modules: - 

- Module 1: Introduction to AI in Healthcare 

- Module 2: Basics of ML & DL

- Module 3: Clinical Applications 

- Module 4: Ethics and Governance of AI

Upon successful completion of lectures, contact sessions, and assessments, a certificate of course completion will be issued jointly by NAMS and IIIT-H.
