MEA Launches Second Edition of Internship Programme for 2024-25

New Delhi, January 23, 2025 – The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has announced the launch of the second edition of its MEA Internships Programme for the year 2024-25. This initiative aims to enhance engagement with young professionals, ensuring greater inclusivity and diversity among interns selected from various academic, geographical, and socio-economic backgrounds.

The MEA Internship Programme seeks to provide valuable exposure to the workings of India’s diplomatic establishment while fostering interest in international relations and foreign policy. The second edition of the programme is designed to emphasize better gender inclusivity and broader representation across disciplines and regions.

Selected interns will receive an honorarium of INR 10,000 per month to cover basic expenses. Additionally, a one-time travel allowance for economy-class airfare between the intern’s domicile State capital or university and Delhi will be provided, subject to a ceiling on airfare. However, interns will be responsible for their accommodation and living expenses in Delhi during their tenure.

Tentative Timeline for MEA Internship Program – Term I, 2025-26

  • January 23, 2025: Notification and Call for Applications

  • February 5, 2025: Deadline for Receiving Applications

  • February 12, 2025: Announcement of Shortlisted Candidates & Interview Calls

  • February 22, 2025: Interviews (via Digital Video Conferencing)

  • February 28, 2025: Announcement of Selected Candidates

  • April 1, 2025: Start of Internship Term I, 2025-26
