With the launch of the second round of the pilot phase, applications are once again invited for the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS). After receiving over 6 lakh applications in the first round, the second round offers more than 1 lakh internship opportunities in top companies across 730+ districts of India.

More than 300 leading companies from various sectors, including oil, gas, and energy; banking and financial services; travel and hospitality; automotive; metals and mining; manufacturing and industrial; fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), and many others, have provided internship opportunities for Indian youth. These internships will help them gain practical experience, build professional networks, and enhance their employability.

Eligible youth can search and choose internships based on their preferred district, state, region, or locality. They can also filter internships within a customizable range from their specified current address. In the second round, each applicant can apply for up to three internships before the application deadline.

For the second round, over 70 IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) programs are being conducted across the country, targeting colleges, universities, ITIs, job fairs, and more in districts with the highest number of internship opportunities. Additionally, nationwide digital campaigns are being run through various platforms and influencers based on the aggregation of opportunities and their relevance to youth.

Led by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, the Prime Minister Internship Scheme is designed to harness the potential of India’s young population by providing them with a 12-month paid internship in the country’s top companies.

This scheme targets individuals aged 21 to 24 who are currently not engaged in any full-time academic program or employment. It provides them with a unique opportunity to kick-start their careers.

Each intern will receive a monthly financial assistance of ₹5,000, along with a one-time financial assistance of ₹6,000. Each internship will combine relevant training and professional experience (for at least six months) to ensure that candidates learn and apply their skills in real-world situations.
